Desert Flora began in 2025 as a small balcony collection of a few succulents in a one-room apartment in Delhi. Our founder, Prateek Saxena, was captivated by the quiet dignity and elegance of these survivors — plants that bloom in the harshest conditions, asking almost nothing and giving so much.
What started as a personal obsession quickly became an idea to share the wonder of these unique plants with more people and propagate the spirit and hobby of gardening further. Before long, Prateek started sourcing specimens from growers in different corners of India — including Punjab, UP, and West Bengal — to cater to the needs of more fellow enthusiasts, and Desert Flora was born.
We believe that in today's world, where lifestyles are changing rapidly and people are becoming increasingly dependent on technology and electronic devices, we are simultaneously moving away from the company and dependence of nature. Besides the indifference to natural rhythms that comes along with it, our lifestyles are gradually taking away from us the peace and serenity which has long been the boon of nature on mankind.
At the heart, we believe that gardening is the hobby which teaches patience, tolerance, and empathy towards nature while also serving as an activity which clears our minds and gives a few moments of peace and comfort on a busy day — just like the plants clear up and heal the air. Such is the boon of nature, which we wish to share with our community.
